Spinach Rice

My experiments don’t have to be very successful everyday. This is one of the barely passed recipes. And I have reached the conclusion, rice is better without spinach. Yet, I don’t mind making it again and eating it again.


  • 3/4 cup long grain rice
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 little potatoes, halved
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cup water


  1. Heat oil in a deep pan or a pot
  2. Saute onion and potatoes
  3. Add garam masala and rice and stir it for a while
  4. Blend spinach, water and and garlic in a food processor to form puree
  5. Add it to rice and simmer uncovered until the rice is cooked
  6. Serve it with yogurt
